Thanks for your interest in blogging for Visit Concord NH!
We need your help to fulfill our mission to promote Concord as a vital cultural destination with lots to do, see, eat, and experience!
Who is Visit Concord NH’s audience?
Folks who live in Concord, visitors from the region, and seasonal guests in the fall and summer from further away.
What makes a good blog post?
Read previous blog posts to get an idea of content and style.
Write for someone how knows nothing of Concord: Spell it out, and think about what questions they will have that you can answer.
Blog posts should be focused on experiences in and around Concord - content should be relevant and interesting to tourists and visitors.
Have a main message. Edit your intro so that the point of your post is crystal clear.
Be prescriptive. Don’t just tell readers to do something - motivate and empower them.
Tell a story – like a journalist. Cover who, what, when, where, how, and why. Make it personal. Make it fun and interesting.
Make it concrete. Give examples, details, and dates. Make it real. Make them want to do it!
Make it long enough to engage and enrich. We don’t have word count requirements, so take as little or as long as you want, so long as your point is succinctly delivered.
Keep paragraphs and sentences short.
Please disclose any relationships / partnerships you have to avoid conflicts of interest.
Avoid or explain buzzwords or slang.
Avoid blatant self-promotion in your post. Your author bio is a good place to do that. Business recommendations are welcome, even if they’re your own, but don’t make a post read too much like an ad.
Use a friendly voice - Say I, we, you. Use contractions as you would normally, and keep the vibe slightly informal. Write as if talking with a friend.
Share tips, checklists, and step-by-step instructions. Break up content into sections to make your post more digestible for readers.
Give credit. Check your facts and quotations. Cite your sources. Provide image credit if applicable.
